(Frequently Asked Questions)

Before You Join the Comets Family...

We know how important it is to trust the people guiding your child’s growth. Our FAQs page answers the most common questions parents ask — from safety and staff qualifications to registration details and what a typical day looks like — so you can feel confident every step of the way.
What type of company is Austin Comets?
Austin Comets Athletics (ACA) is a youth sports organization that helps children develop athletic skills, character, and confidence through fun, structured programs rooted in teamwork, mentorship, and faith-based values. We believe sports can transform lives both on and off the field.
How do you mentor kids, and how will this program benefit my child?
At Austin Comets Athletics LLC, mentoring is at the core of everything we do. Our approach begins with welcoming and supporting youth who may feel overlooked or misunderstood—providing them equal opportunities for success through encouragement, structure, and genuine care.

We create a safe, fun, and trusting environment where relationships can grow. Our mentoring coaches use “teachable moments” on and off the court to help young athletes develop essential life skills like impulse control, responsibility, and resilience. These lessons often happen naturally—during practices, team rides, home visits, and even casual conversations.

As athletes progress, they’re challenged through competitive play, leadership opportunities, and team accountability. Our ultimate goal is to help every participant become not only a stronger athlete but a confident, responsible, and compassionate young person ready to impact their community and, potentially, earn college scholarships.
Where are your programs and activities located?
Our operations are based in the Greater Chicago Area, primarily in the west suburbs of St. Charles, Illinois. We proudly serve surrounding communities including Elgin, Aurora, Hanover Park, Streamwood, Bartlett.
Is my family’s information kept confidential?
Absolutely. All participant records, forms, and documents are stored securely and are only shared:
  1. With parent or guardian consent,
  2. On a limited “need-to-know” basis, or
  3. As required by law.
All records are maintained for a minimum of seven years, and longer in the event of an injury.
Do I need to live in a specific area to participate?
Not at all! We welcome participants from all communities, whether you live in the city or suburbs. Our programs are open to any family seeking a safe, positive, and faith-centered athletic experience.
Do I need to provide medical insurance information?
No, families are not required to provide medical insurance information for participation. However, all athletes are covered under our organization’s general liability and accident insurance, endorsed by our affiliated governing bodies.
What documents are Typically required to register my child?
To complete registration, please provide the following items to our athletic office:
  • Copy of your child’s Birth Certificate
  • Copy of School Physical (required for select sports like basketball or football)
  • Signed Participation Agreement Form
  • Completed Registration Application
  • Program Fee Payment (if applicable)
These documents can be submitted at the Parent/Athlete Orientation or during the first practice of the season.
What YOUTH sports programs do you currently offer?
We currently offer (1) exciting program:
  • Mighty Meteors - A non-traditional after school sports program for grade school kids.

Each program is designed to teach athletic skills, teamwork, and character development in a supportive, faith-based environment.
What ages can participate in your programs?
Our programs are designed for boys and girls ages 5–11, with beginner-friendly instruction that focuses on learning, growth, and fun. Older youth programs are being developed for future expansion.
